FAQ

At Stepaside Photographic Services, we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our customers' needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. If you do not find an answer to your question here, contact us at 01834 819265 or stepaside.photos@btinternet.com.

Explain your approach to wedding photography?
I often feel my clients do not want the photographer to take over the day. I allow you both and your wedding guests to get on with having a good time and we interact directly for portraits and formal photographs. I will try not to impose myself or take longer than necessary.
It's important to choose a photographer you feel at ease with. The connection made between you and the photographer will come through in your photos. Therefore it's fun to meet and have a pre-wedding shoot to develop our understanding.

Do you offer an engagement / pre wedding shoot?
Yes. If you book me to photograph your wedding I will try to arrange a pre-wedding shoot - weekday evenings in the Tenby area, the engagement photo session is a great way for us to get to know each other a little better before the wedding day itself.

After the wedding, what happens next?
I then edit and present your photographs as a slideshow on CD, carefully sequenced in a storybook format (normally producing between 200 and 300 shots) to select from. I provide you with order forms and there is no deadline on ordering reprints and no limitations on quantity ordered.

What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
I will shoot as much as practically possible and you may get a bit wet. Wedding reception venues will often have an indoor space to set up flash lighting if required.

Can you make a web page of photographs?
I make a web page of every wedding I photograph. Your family and friends can go online to view and even place a print order from them. This web page also serves the purpose of me allowing potential clients to view my style from wedding to wedding. I use a 3rd party website for this purpose, this allowing family from all around the world to purchase photos of the special day.

What kind of cameras do you use?
I shoot with professional Canon cameras that are fast and allow me every opportunity to actually "get the shot." These cameras have a large variety of lenses usable with them. This means a greater possibility of unique and creative photographs.

Do you shoot colour or black & white?
I shoot in colour and you can choose any image and convert it to black & white or sepia. Often black & white is more effective for formal photographs, whilst colour is lovely for details, flowers and children. It helps for me to be given a certain amount of discretion, since choosing one or the other can depend on the sort of weather, the time of day and the environment..

What happens to the original images?
The original digital photographic files remain the exclusive property of Stepaside Photography Services, as per the Terms & Conditions.

How many photographs will we get to see?
You will receive unmarked proofs of all the images I shoot - this is likely to be between 200-400. Better to have too many than too few!

When will we get to see our photographs?
The proofs will be ready for delivery 10 days from the date of the wedding.

I don’t really enjoy having my photo taken – will this be a problem?
This style of photography ensures that you will be largely unaware of my presence, so it won't be a problem. My own experience is that there is so much else going on that you simply won't notice being photographed and will be surprised and delighted when you see how natural you look.
